The body of this unusual, curved dresser is made from spalted maple that was collected from a single tree with solid walnut dividers. Highly figured spalted poplar on the drawer sides and backs make the inside as beautiful as the outside.
Five contrasting, randomly spaced veins of hardwood veneers are layered in
the the hard maple, double ball turned feet, create an exquisite detail.
The set includes a matching jewelry chest that sits on top of the dresser and has four divided drawers.
Egg-crate dividers create 77 spaces of various dimensions in two flat drawers for storage of jewelry from rings to long necklaces. Both drawers fully extend to allow easy access.
The jewelry chest’s side drawers include removable dividers for adjustable space. All four jewelry chest drawers are lined with black velvet for rich contrast.
Both pieces are finished with six layers of clear shellac, with hand sanding and hand rubbing after each layer to produce an incredibly smooth, durable finish.
The dresser received second place in 2012 Indiana State Fair.
This set was designed and built to be cherished and passed down from generation to generation. Each piece is signed and dated by craftsman/designer.
