Elle Décor had an interesting feature on its website yesterday highlighting polka dots as a new trend.
“We’re seeing spots everywhere – from the runway to the home,” Elle Décor declares.
I too have seen polka dots on all kinds of things in the stores and online but I had a much harder time locating them actually in rooms – I mean other than kids rooms and nurseries.
Still, I did find a few great examples and so I thought I’d share some here, along with some products to buy to add polka dots to your own home.
The room at right is from Better Homes and Gardens and includes a beautiful combination of patterns. The bedding includes stripes, polka dots, checks and diamonds – plus an almost-animal print on the lamp shade. So pretty!
The dining room below is a dining room by Anthony Wright Interiors, which I found at HGTV. I love the whimsy of polka dots in the otherwise traditional room.
I found some other great examples at Better Homes and Gardens.
The room in the lower left has just a subtle polka dot in a pretty throw. In the photo below right, the chair also has a polka dot pattern that manages to be subtle because the grey and white is almost tonal.
In the photo below left, the polka dot rug – called Code – is $299-$599 at CB2.
In the photo below right is a cute polka dot pillow available at West Elm.
Here are some other great ways to add polka dots to your home…
Top row: Orange polka dot shabby chic chair, $125, Trina Rose Boutique, Etsy; Mona cups, Milani Home.
Bottom row: Dot Placemats, Crate & Barrel Outlet, 6 for $11.95; Watercolor Dot Pillow Covers, $29, West Elm; Niles Beige Retro Dot Armless Chair, $129, Overstock.
