I’ve been really eager to feature the work of Indianapolis designer Jeff Sheats, whose portfolio is just fantastic.
We finally hooked up and I’m so thrilled to show you one of his recent projects – a Nantucket-inspired design of a Cape Cod home.
The house started with French country decor but the young family was ready for a change to some simple, airy interiors.
Their previous decor “consisted of buttery golden walls, dusty floral patterned upholstery and many black finished casegoods that dominated their residence and created a significant disconnect with their graceful Cape Cod exterior,” Jeff says of the project.
The couple wanted an improved kitchen, an additional bedroom that could be used as a nursery as well as the overall change in aesthetic.
The resulting project included a complete kitchen remodel (see the kitchen before and after below.), new computer workstations, bathroom and laundry remodels, the new bedroom and new Nantucket-inpsired decor to bring cohesion to the large home, Jeff said.
The journey “included providing a family-friendly design that including stripping and donating many of the existing interior finishes,” he said. “New hard installed materials included hand-scraped solid ash flooring, pristine white cabinetry, several unusual glass mosaic tile backsplashes, recycled white quartz countertops, a magnificent lighting package, transitional plumbing and hardware packages, extensive and dramatic millwork treatments, custom plantation shutters and a mostly neutral color palette backdrop.”
The project also included custom furniture and window treatments, commissioned art work and art glass, custom wall murals for the kids’ rooms and hand-selected accessories.
“The collective new interior spaces created a very individual and unique statement for the client while creating a harmoniously cohesive coastal design throughout the entire residence successfully reflecting the client’s lifestyle and desires,” Jeff says of the space.
I think it’s beautiful. I love the modern addition of the mirrors in the family room above and the way their placement draws your eye up to the beautiful high ceilings.
The same is true of this custom chandelier in the entry.
I’m also crazy about the wood cabinets in the crisp white kitchen. It’s a great contrast that adds a lot of warmth to the space.
The kitchen design transitions into this great but very simple dining room.
I think the modern art looks great above the more traditional, stone fireplace. The built-ins are beautiful and so functional and I love a chic sectional.
The master bedroom is really cozy. And check out the before and after of the ceiling below.
The master bath received a complete renovation as well. It looks incredibly functional for husband and wife!
I love that the home has so many colorful rooms– not just the kids’ rooms but family spaces as well. So fun and creative.
Finally, I love this masculine office, with its natural wood and dark brown leather. I could collapse in that chair!
This home and design is fantastic and I’m so appreciate to Jeff Sheats for giving me permission to post the photos here.
Make sure you check out his whole portfolio to see more of his amazing work.
