I love the way wooden beams create a cozy feeling in any room but I think it’s particularly beautiful in a kitchen.
The kitchen at right from Better Homes and Gardens has what I really think are decorative wood beams rather than structural ones.
But I love the way the color and the look bring the whole room together.
The combination of the beams and the wood-base island give a great farmhouse look to this kitchen. It’s really gorgeous.
The kitchen below (featured at Light Locations) also has beams – along with a wooden ceiling – but here they compliment a very modern design.
The room wouldn’t be nearly as intimate and cozy without that warm wooden ceiling. It just adds something really special to the space.
The Amy Levine-Hammer kitchen featured on HGTV is really beautiful. I love the unusual direction of the beams, which follow the interesting lines of the ceiling.
The room below is another from Light Locations and it has a very rustic feel. The beams, the cabinets, the chairs and floor all add to the country feel. But that modern, red light fixture is a great, unexpected punch in the space.
Finally, I’m fascinated by the combination of the wooden beams here with the period iron lighting, the sleek stone countertop and the stainless steel fridge. I would never put all that together but it looks beautiful.
