Wall decals seemed like they might be a passing fad when they arrived on the decorating scene several years ago.
But as the industry has matured, the companies that specialize in decals have continued to come up with innovative designs that keep buyers interested.
They've done it with mirrored and blackboard materials, with miniature pieces and wall-sized options, and even by letting customers choose precisely the colors and designs they want.
"Almost anyone can find a design that will fit just about any room and personality by browsing through our website," said David Leventhal, co-founder of the fun Dali Decals. "If you can't find anything to suit your needs or tastes, our designers are available to help bring your ideas to life!"
Dali offers the Giant Shade Tree with Falling Leaves (shown in the collage below). It's one of the company's largest, standing 8 foot high by 12 foot wide. Also at right is the Musichalk-blackboard wall tattoo from Dezign with a Z.
I absolutely love the Hi Santa decal from Urban Expressions, a shop on Etsy. It's so cute and a mere $16!
Also at right is the 3 Panel Scroll with Bird from Chuck E Byrd Vinyl Wall Art, an Etsy store that I featured on the blog last summer.
But I'm really taken right now by the mirrored decals, like the Pom Pom (at top left) from Wall Tat. You pay a little more for the metallic look (this one is $98 for a 20-inch by 20-inch decal) but you get something special in return.
