In honor of my good friend Dee's recent revelation that she's pregnant, I've been doing an occasional series of posts about creating a modern nursery.
Today, we'll look at some adorable baby rooms, thanks to some remarkably talented folks who were kind enough to share their photos.
I found nine spaces (in no particular order) that I just had to share:
1. An explosion of circles.Dee needs a neutral design because she and husband Jason don't plan to find out their baby's gender. But I couldn't resist including this fun pink room because I think it would be so easy to do in a neutral color scheme as well. For me, it's the river of circles and dots that makes this room irresistible.
This room (made available by Dallas photographer Chris Moseley) includes the Nurseryworks Three wide Dresser and Ariel Crib and the Haba Rug Rosalie.
It took three packs of Wallcandy Arts Wall Art kits to create the amazing wall art.
These gorgeous stripes are a great way to bring color and fun to a nursery without relying on the crib bedding to set the room's tone.
The room was created by New York designer Amanda Moore of re:place and would be fantastic for a little boy or girl!
There are plenty of other inspirational nurseries at Amanda's website. Check them out here.
3. Back to nature.
Stacey Vaughan created this cute room in just 100 square feet of space. What makes it special is the phenonenol wall mural Stacey painted for son Will.
In the photo of at left you can just see the pretty feather mobile, which Stacey found at Ekko Mobiles.
The book shelf came from West Elm and the recliner from Best Chairs.
I really love this simple nursery design, which was created by new mom Suchitra Rao.
I'm particularly fond of this black Bonavita crib, which Suchitra purchased at a local store. The circles were purchased online and are part of the Sweet Potato collection from Glenna Jean.
It's a great color scheme for a boy or a girl and (as regular readers know) I just can't resist black furniture.
I just adore this owl-themed nursery, which was designed by Kendyl, mother of Elliott.
She got this Baby Mod Olivia crib from Walmart and the LILLBERG rocking chair from IKEA. She also made the adorable wall art. Grandpa made this cute and functional toy box.
Angie Hranowsky of Angie Hranowsky Design Studio in Charlestown, S.C. designed this beautiful nursery space.
I'm crazy about the yellow and aqua color scheme, the fluffy white rug, and the pretty shades. It's just gorgeous.
This wild baby space was created by Heather Kathleen and Suzanne O'Leary of ella+elliot, an amazing Toronto-based store that is about to make its fantastic products available on the web.
This room was created as a model suite for a new downtown Toronto condominium development aimed at families. I love the chalkboard design on the wall, the modern rocker and the comfy rug.
I love this beautiful room created by Fawn & Forest, a retailer of all things modern baby, because its a soothing space for your little one while still being stylish enough to please Mom & Dad.
I think the Q collection junior Cielo crib in cloud is an interesting combination of traditional and modern and love the color of this roxy celestial parade crib set.
The soft red/coral color on the walls is a perfect neutral background for a boy's or girl's room.
Last but not in any way least is this baby girl's room highlighted by the beautiful wall painted with blocks of green.
New mother Alison said there are four shades on that accent wall - three in green and one very light beige. The lightest of the greens is painted on the other three walls and the celery color is used inside a closet where the changing table is stationed.
The furnishings all come from IKEA -- including the HENSVIK crib & bookcase, the KIVBY dresser, the LEKSVIK baby chair, KNUBBIG lamp and HUSNES mirror.
Thanks to all the great mothers and designers who made these spaces available for us to show you here. You've done a great job!
