Yesterday we looked at a variety of great pet-related home products. So today I wanted to feature local artist Angela Bond who sells pet prints and custom makes portraits for pet owners.
Angela is in high demand so it takes several months for her to do a custom piece. You can see why. Hers are not the traditional pet portraits.
Check out the piece at right, called "Waiting for the Alpha Dog." Or the one above called "Bosom Buddies."
According to her web site, Angela's "unorthodox style evolved from doing mosiacs, as her paintings consist of abstract shapes arranged on canvas. She uses background color as a negative to build up the foreground positively in order to create a three dimensional form. It is as if she has taken the negative of a photograph and reversed it on canvas with complimentary colors to create an image that is uniquely her own."
The cost of a custom portrait for one cat or dog ranges from $170 for a 12-inch square head shot to $1,800 for a 36-inch by 48-inch painting. Additional pets are $100 each. Contact Angela at angelabondart@yahoo.com for more information.
