Sometimes Moms are really tough to buy for. Mine always says she doesn't need anything or want anything and she'd be happy just to have a visit.
So I've spent some time recently thinking about Mom and thought I'd share some of my ideas -- along with a few of my favorites from my Christmas gift list...
Florapalooza Vase in robins egg blue, $52, Red Hot Pottery shop
I featured the Red Hot Pottery shop on the blog just a few weeks ago because I'm just crazy about these beautiful creations. The delicate little flowers here are just amazing!
Clear Glass Square Base Pillar Holders, Pottery Barn, $19.50-$39.50
I love these candle holders because they'll go with so much -- gold, silver, colors, wood, flowers. Anything.
They'd look great as part of a centerpiece, on the mantel or a tabletop.
Envirosax Set of 5 Flora Shopping Bags, $38, Silver in the City
OK...this is not the most sentimental of gifts. But Mom is an environmentalist and a shopper, then she'll love having these great shopping bags.
They roll up nice and tight to slip into your purse and then open up to give you lots of space for all your stuff.
Melamine 4-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, Williams-Sonoma, $38
My mom actually has these already and they look fantastic against the white cabinets in her kitchen. The colors are great.
Plus, these are incredibly useful. One side serves as a sort of handle and the other as a gentle spout.
Hybrid-Home Limited Edition Print - Painted Bunting, $40, Design Public
I love this sweet, colorful print and think it would look great in a kitchen, dining area or porch. It's silk-screened on archival stock and measures 20"x16".They are all hand signed and numbered by the artist.
White & Green Floral Embroidery Stamp Style Napkin, $18, Kain-Kain
Shop
I featured this Etsy shop on my blog earlier this year, but I was especially struck by the personalized napkins. My Mom bought me a set of monogrammed napkins from Pottery Barn several years ago for Christmas and I still use them all the time.
I thought these from the Kain-Kain shop were especially interesting. And while you're at the shop, check out all of Jenny's amazing, modern linens.
Lazy Daisy - set of four napkin rings, $22, House
of Peltier
Aren't these gorgeous? They were created by Amy Peltier of Indianapolis who has the House
of Peltier shop on Etsy. I would LOVE to set my table with these. So pretty!
Ribbon clock, $58, Houseworks
This stainless steel wall clock is so fun and cool. It would really look great in a kitchen or living room. And it would blend with so many different decorating styles.
Plus, it's available online or in person at one of my favorite Indianapolis stores.
Time And Again Birdhouse, Grey Cabin, $58, Anthropologie
I love birdhouses and have a fence full of them in my backyard. I think this one is especially cool and I think the colors will hold up much better than a traditionally painted wooden bird house.
As described by Anthropologie, this is a home for the environmentally conscious flock, handmade from recycled tins. Use indoors as a quirky adornment or outside as a bona fide shelter.
Letter Photography Art - Framed, Art*iculate Etsy Shop, $50
I featured Art*iculate as one of my Etsy picks this fall. I think these collages would make a touching Mother's Day gift. Art*iculate combines photos of everyday items that look like letters into words and names.
That means every gift you give is personalized.
Find Your Way Labyrinth Bowl, Uncommon Goods, $38
Symbolic of a spiritual journey and personal discovery, this beautiful, pewter labyrinth bowl encourages you to contemplate your own path through life. It would make a beautiful gift.
Bird Brain Nusku Firepot, Blue Metallic, Amazon, $43.99
I recently purchased one of these firepots and absolutely love it! This one is hand glazed ceramic, with beautiful artisan glazes. Each one is a unique work of art. Includes stainless steel fuel reservoir - when removed allows Firepot to be used as a vase. Uses Bird Brain Firepot Fuel Gel or Firepot Fuel Gel with Citronella - no smoke or messy ashes.
Custom Cat Lady Portrait by Susan Faye on Etsy, $19.95 and up
I featured Susan Faye's work on the blog earlier this year in a post about pet-related design. Her custom paintings are just fantastic and perfect for any cat lover. (This was on my Christmas list but Santa didn't remember!)
Prices vary depending on the size of the portrait you order -- and the number of cats!
Personalized Door Mat, Pottery Barn, $59-$69
I love personalized gifts and this is a great one. This hand-screened doormats will make a welcoming statement for holiday guests. It's 36" wide x 22" deep x 1.5" thick and made of thickly woven of naturally durable coir, a fiber derived from the outer husk of coconut shells.
20x20 Cafe Art Print, Red Letter Words, $125
Shine Your light and let the whole world see in brown, is printed on matte velvet archival fine art paper using pigment ink. It is mounted onto a 3/4 inch standout mount board with black edging. It's ready to hang or display on shelf or mantel.
Makes a great gift for any occasion - or just because we all need to be reminded sometimes just how much God loves us!
